Situated between the towns of Frome and Bruton, Witham Friary is set in the beautiful Somerset countryside. There are two lakes on site totalling around 3 acres between them with very good access and parking.

We are lucky enough to have secured a fifteen year lease and we have great hopes for this venue. It fished better than we expected last season with roach perch and carp being caught from both lakes.

We stocked the bottom lake with 2700 tench and true crucians in Sept 17 and a mixed bag of 1700+ rudd, roach, bream and carp added in the December into the large lake.

There is also now easy access platforms installed including three suitable for wheelchair users. A new toilet block and hardstanding car park have also been built onsite making this a very accessible venue for less mobile and anglers with a disability.

These lakes originally belonged to the monastery at Witham Friary and are said to have been dug by hand. There is an abundance of largely wild fish in both lakes and with lots of weed and marginal vegetation these lake provide great stalking opportunities. Catch history of the lakes consist of carp, roach, tench, perch, bream and apparently an occasional pike.  The smaller lake, is said to have carp up to about 14lb and the larger lake to about 21lb.
